Ken and Ruth Davee Scholarship for Global Health & Underserved Medicine

The Global Health Education & Community Service Program of Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine allocates merit-based scholarships to Feinberg medical students wishing to pursue either an international rotation or a global community health project in a medically underserved area. For a list of approved sites abroad please click here. Contact the GHECS program at 312-503-1474 for more information.
This scholarship supports the Global Health Education & Community Service Program’s mission of improving the health and welfare of communities and advocating for health as a human right. We encourage applications that highlight project sustainability and community partnerships. We believe that physicians should think globally and act locally. Proposals that highlight the project’s connections and benefits to both global and Chicago communities are more likely to be successful. We also particularly value projects that work with immigrant and refugee communities living in Chicago. Funded applicants will support the GHECS program’s mission by completing sustainable health projects and rotations in underserved areas.
If you are interested in project ideas, consultations, or a faculty mentor, please contact the GHECS coordinator.
If you are a Feinberg student interested in a global health project based in Chicago OR a non-primary care elective rotation or project abroad, please click here to download the Davee application.
If you are a Feinberg student interested in a primary care rotation or project in a medically underserved area abroad, please check out The Global Health Initiative funds site.
Applications are accepted at any time, but you must apply at least 45 days prior to travelling. Please contact the Department of Family and Community Medicine with questions at 312-503-1474 or email the GHECS Coordinator.
