Santina J. G. Wheat, MD, MPH - Program Director (she/her)
Dr. Wheat is the Program Director for the McGaw Northwestern Family Medicine Residency at Delnor. She is an Associate Professor and the Vice Chair of Health Equity in the Department of the Family and Community Medicine.
Dr. Wheat earned her medical degree at University of Illinois Chicago College of Medicine and her Master of Public Health at University of Illinois School of Public Health. She completed a family medicine residency at McGaw Northwestern Family Medicine Residency Humboldt Park. Dr Wheat has provided full scope primary care including care of chronic conditions including HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C.
Dr Wheat was previously the Medical Director for the Lending Hands for Life Program within Erie that oversees care for those living with HIV/AIDs, Hepatitis C services, and pre-exposure prophylaxis services to adult and adolescent patients.
Dr Wheat has a strong interest in reproductive health, health equity, social determinants of health. She is also dedicated to developing leadership, advocacy, and wellbeing skills in learners, helping them build meaningful and sustainable careers in medicine.
Muhammad Deen, MD - Associate Program Director (he/him)
Dr. Muhammad Deen is the Associate Program Director of the McGaw Northwestern Family Medicine Residency at Delnor. He is a board-certified family physician and educator with a strong commitment to academic medicine, medical education, and patient-centered care.
Dr. Deen completed his Family Medicine residency training at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria and a Hospice and Palliative Medicine fellowship at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine.
Before joining the Delnor residency program, Dr. Deen served as the Program Director of the McGaw Northwestern Family Medicine Residency at Humboldt Park, a Federally Qualified Teaching Health Center serving a diverse and largely Spanish-speaking patient population through Erie Family Health Center.
Throughout his career, Dr. Deen has remained deeply committed to medical education and faculty development. He has participated in various faculty and leadership development programs and has been recognized with multiple teaching excellence awards. He has also had the privilege of presenting his clinical and educational work at regional, national, and international conferences.
Dr. Deen practices and teaches full-spectrum family medicine in both inpatient and outpatient settings and enjoys caring for patients across all stages of life. His professional interests include comprehensive primary care, medical education, primary palliative care, and obesity medicine. He places particular emphasis on patient-centered communication and shared decision-making, with a focus on building meaningful, long-term relationships with his patients and learners.
Ischel Gonzalez-Kelso, MD - Faculty (she/her)
Matthew J. Rudolph, MD - Faculty (he/him))
Dr. Rudolph is board-certified in Family Medicine. He received his medical degree from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and completed his residency at the West Suburban Family Medicine Residency in Oak Park, IL.
Dr. Rudolph's clinic interests include full-spectrum primary care that addresses social and structural barriers to good health. He is also interested in improving and innovating traditional office-based care through technologies such as point-of-care ultrasound. He is thrilled to share these passions with his patients, residents, and the Northwestern academic community.
Noman Shahid, MD - Inpatient Director, Faculty (he/him)
Dr. Shahid is board certified in family medicine and palliative medicine. He completed his residency at University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria and fellowship training at Rush University Medical Center. His clinical interests include: caring for seriously ill patients, hospital medicine, addiction medicine, and primary care.
Dr. Shahid believes in a life of service, and strives to provide comprehensive and compassionate care to his patients. He is thrilled to share his love of teaching, learning, and building long lasting patient relationships at Northwestern.
Jennifer C. Tieman, MD - Clinical Director, Faculty (she/her)
Dr. Tieman is board certified in Family Medicine. She sees patients of all ages at Northwestern Family Medicine at Delnor Hospital . She received her medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzer School of Medicine and completed her residency at Mount Sinai Family Medicine Residency of Chicago and completed Clinical Medical Ethics fellowship training at the Maclean Center of the University of Chicago.
Dr. Tieman’s clinical interests include: complete care for all family members including family centered maternity care and delivering babies, partnering with patients to create the best plan for their health, and developing strong relationships with her patients and the greater community.
Dr. Tieman is excited to share her love of teaching, learning, and building long lasting patient relationships with the next generation of family physicians as well through residency education.
