Resident Life & Wellbeing
At Northwestern Family Medicine at Delnor, a high priority is put on resident wellbeing and work life-integration. Schedules are built intentionally with time for focused recovery. Time is spent to focus on practice management in ways that decrease the amount of after-hours time in EMR.
The Wellness Committee, made up of our own residents and faculty, focus on the social, physical, spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and environmental aspects of staying well including but not limited to celebrations, gratitude, and togetherness.
We advocate for our residents to help maintain and improve their physical and mental well-being throughout their training. Protected time is dedicated to well-being, with a focus on managing difficult situations and promoting long-term sustainability in medicine, during both Thursday Didactics and Friday Resident Development sessions. Activities provide opportunities for well-being amongst our residents, but also time for their families and loved ones to participate.
