Paul Ravenna, MD - Program Director

I am the Program Director for Lake Forest and have been with the program since it started in 2015.  I went to Rosalind Franklin for medical school and Northwestern for residency, then later completed the AAFP Health Equity Fellowship. My research is centered around utilizing medical education to advance Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity.  Clinically, my passions are gender-affirming care and community medicine.  My wife and I live in Chicago with our 2 daughters, 4 hairless cats, 3 pit bulls, and 1 very resilient axolotl.  Send help. 

Adiba Khan, MD - Associate Program Director, Faculty

I am the Associate Program Director for the McGaw Northwestern Family Medicine Residency Program at Lake Forest. I attended medical school at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago and completed residency as part of the third graduating class at this program. During my residency training, I completed the McGaw Medical Education Clinical Scholars Program and served as Chief Resident. Some of my clinical and research interests include comprehensive reproductive healthcare informed by a reproductive justice lens, health equity, primary care procedures, curricular development, and optimizing resident feedback. My husband and I have two kids, a son and daughter, and a ferocious cat.

Gena Grospe, DO - Faculty

I am faculty at Erie HealthReach Waukegan and have been with Erie since 2020. I precept residents at Erie, and work on the family medicine teaching service at Swedish Hospital. I graduated from Midwestern University Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed my residency at Advocate Christ Hospital Oak Lawn, IL just south of Chicago. Some of my clinical interests include weight management, diabetes,  inpatient medicine, and OMT.  Outside of work I love cooking, trying new restaurants, hiking, and spending time with my husband, daughter, and dog.

Joyce King, MD - Director of Community Medicine, Faculty

I am Dr. King! I serve as the course director of Community Medicine for the Residency. A major part of my work focuses on Health Equity and addressing social determinants of health in racial ethnic minority communities with emphasis on work in African American communities. I graduated from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science and completed my Family Medicine residency, here, at the McGaw Northwestern Family Medicine Residency at Lake Forest. I held the role as National Vice President of the Student National Association (SNMA) during medical school. During residency, I was a member of the Northwestern Medicine Community Outreach Committee and the Task Force on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and also served as Chief Resident.  I enjoy gardening, traveling, being a Chicagoland “foodie”, and spending time with my husband and daughter. I am originally from Louisiana (best food in the country, hands down) but grew up in Highland Park, IL, a suburb of Chicago located just down the road from Lake Forest Hospital! I love watching college football and basketball on the weekends, Geaux LSU Tigers (football), Go Duke Blue Devils (basketball) - they are my top favorites!

Krithika Malhotra, PhD - Director of Behavioral Science, Faculty

I am the Director of Behavioral Science for Lake Forest. I completed my doctorate in Counseling Psychology from the University of Miami and then a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Integrated Care in the Family Medicine department at the University of Kansas Medical Center. I provide clinical and didactic education to residents on all things mental and behavioral health and also provide clinical care to our patients in the Grayslake clinic. My professional interests include integrated behavioral health, refugee health, and physician wellness. In my spare time, I enjoy reading fantasy books, playing boardgames, trying new recipes, and hanging out with my husband and doggy.

Anna Shannahan, MD - Faculty

I am currently Associate Director of Education at the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine at Northwestern in Chicago, Illinois, as well as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Northwestern.  I completed 2 Fellowships in Integrative Medicine and am passionate about nutrition, movement and helping others achieve their health goals. I am also a certified Wilderness First Responder and Fellow of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine. In my free time I love spending time with friends and family, marathons & triathlons, yoga, figure skating, skiing, cooking, writing, and anything outdoors in nature.

Katherine Wright, PhD, MPH - Director of Research, Faculty

I am the Director of Research and have been with the Department of Family & Community Medicine at Northwestern since 2010. I graduated with a PhD in research methodology from Loyola University Chicago and a MPH from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and my research examines the effectiveness of curriculum and policy measures. I’m a data enthusiast, dog-lover, record collector, and mom of two.

Dr. Jack York, DO - Faculty

I am the Site Medical Director at Erie Waukegan and have been working with the residency program since I started with Erie in the Fall of 2020. I went to Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and did my residency at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. While there I developed an LGBTQIA Healthcare Track and focused on developing my skills as an Osteopath with dedicated OMT clinics and didactics. I provide care to all ages and also take call with Erie on Labor and Delivery as a Delivering Family Medicine Physician. My clinical passions are underserved medicine, Medication Assisted Treatment for substance use and preventative health care. I am from Lake County originally and am proud to call Chicagoland home. I have a second-degree black belt in Shotokan karate, more books than I have room for, a grumpy cat and two energetic dogs.
